Famous Cherry Blossoms

Some of the world's most famous cherry blossoms are in Washington, D.C.  The trees were originally a gift from Japan.

Abe

Abraham Lincoln is one of my heroes, and I was privileged to see his Memorial in Washington, D.C. in April, with Paula and Hannah.

I Love Spring!

We have several flowering trees in our yard; this one will be covered with white blossoms in a couple weeks.

Greenhouse Daisies

Fort Collins Nursery has a lovely greenhouse with plants blooming all winter long.  I recently spent an hour enjoying the quiet and beauty and "borrowing" photographs.

I love Gerber Daisies and this camera.

Waiting for Spring...

I am tired of the dead of winter, and am waiting for the new life of spring.

New Camera!

Thanks to the generosity of a number of family and friends this Christmas, I have a new camera!

Ah, yes, Merry Christmas!

This lovely angel statue is at a local gift shop, and I think she is beautiful.

The Giving of Thanks

One of my favorite quotes from Dag Hammarskjold:  "For all that has been, thanks.  For all that will be, yes!"

Down By the River....

"Let's go down by the river and pray...."  The Poudre River was the site of Ashley's baptism, October 16, 2010.

October Rain

After weeks without rain, it poured; and this leaf, and I, were very happy.

Autumn Beauty

This lovely leaf caught my attention in a cemetery in southern Illinois in early October....  it was lying on the ground, by itself, whispering the wonder of God's creativity.

Lovely Lotus

Our lotus plant bloomed rather unexpectedly this summer.  We were told we'd have to wait 'til next summer, so it was a lovely surprise.  I spent hours photographing it, as it opened and closed, all in one day.

A Simple Sunflower

It was just barely raining when we made a wrong turn and found ourselves on a dead-end street with this view. The majestic mountains in the distance, with simple sunflowers growing wild in the foreground.... I carefully shielded my camera with an umbrella, while happily capturing their beauty.

Pike's Peak

A quick trip to Colorado Springs rewarded me with this stunning view of the part of the Rocky Mountains that I love best.

Simply Beautiful

Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a delightful family of six. This is one of my favorite photos of their simply beautiful oldest daughter.

View From a Bench

This broken, old bench sits amidst flowers near Lake Sherwood.... beckoning me to "borrow" a photograph.

Iris

These gorgeous iris grow right beside our pond. They're unique and short-lived, but while they last, bring me great pleasure. When I "quietly asked" if I could "borrow their photograph," they graciously said yes. I honestly feel a sense of wonder in their beauty.

Summer Wedding

Drew and Ashley's evening wedding at The Dove House in LaFayette, Colorado, was attended by 150 or so friends and family.  The setting was almost as lovely as the bride.  This wrought iron chair and flowers caught my attention.

This photo is of a centerpiece at the wedding, with windows behind it.

Almost Summer

In Our Garden

Beautiful Barn

This beautiful, but dilapidated old barn is at the I-25 exit to Johnstown. It begged me to photograph it.

Mother's Day

Last night, Brad brought me the most amazing assortment of flowers for Mother's Day. After arranging them in the largest vase I own... of course, I got out the camera!

MayDay!

Despite the snow and harsh night temperatures, this flowering tree has once again proven its resilience. As I took photos this morning, the first of May, I was delighted to capture the beauty of these blossoms.

Birthday Orchids

Of course orchids grow on plants... that should be obvious. But I'd never seen an orchid plant before my birthday this year, when Ashley brought me one. Weeks later, it is still blooming, profusely! This tiny plant now has six blooms. The next time I receive an orchid from my husband, I shall remember orchids don't grow individually, but along side one another, on the graceful stem of a plant.

Water Flowers

Laura gave me this beautiful potted plant for our pond...

First Potted Plant of the Season

I always, ALWAYS buy potted flowers early, TOO EARLY in the season, and have to bring them in night after night. Spring weather in northern Colorado is so unpredictable, with warm, sunny days, followed by snow and freezing temperatures a few hours later. BUT, I love those first potted plants available at WalMart, and will probably always, ALWAYS be tempted into buying them early, TOO EARLY, for many years to come.

A Gift

Spring is a gift, and these iris look like a bow on the package.
